YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif., July 14, 2011— Bikers are cruising on the paths, families are enjoying s’mores at night and summer is now in full-swing with the opening of rafting in Yosemite National Park today. Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite offers three-mile rafting trips along the Merced River daily from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. starting July 14 and it anticipates the rafting season will run through Labor Day depending on weather and river level conditions. Visitors to Yosemite National Park will enjoy a scenic and relaxing trip along the Merced River with spectacular views of Yosemite icons including Half Dome and Yosemite Falls
“Rafting along the Merced River is a fun and unique way to explore Yosemite Valley,” said Sean Costello, manager for Curry Village Recreation Center. “The water and weather conditions were not typical this year causing a later rafting season than usual and we expect a fantastic rafting season ahead.”
Rafts are available for rent at the Curry Village Recreation Center, which hold four adults. The cost is $26 per adult and $16 per child (12 and under). Please note that children must weigh at least 50 pounds. Following the rafting trip, visitors are shuttled back to the Curry Village Recreation Center.
