Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite Announces Opening of Housekeeping Camp, Yosemite Valley Stable Rides and Raft Rentals

The family-favorite Housekeeping Camp, Yosemite Valley Stable, offering mule and horseback rides, and raft rentals along the Merced River have re-opened for the season
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif., April 20, 2012 — Yosemite is experiencing beautiful weather and gushing waterfalls, and Delaware North Companies (DNC) Parks & Resorts at Yosemite is pleased to announce the re-opening of Housekeeping Camp, Yosemite Valley Stable rides and rafting along the Merced River in the heart of Yosemite Valley.

Housekeeping Camp, located along the Merced River, offering great views of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome is open for the 2012 season. Housekeeping Camp is the ideal location for those who like to camp outdoors without the hassle of setting up a tent. Each of the 266 Housekeeping Camp tents, which can sleep up to six people, consists of three concrete walls, a concrete floor and a canvas roof. A canvas curtain separates the sleeping area from a covered patio with a grill and picnic table. Reservations for select dates at Housekeeping Camp are still available.

Yosemite activities opening early for the season today include mule and horseback rides at the Yosemite Valley Stable and the popular rafting along the Merced River. Yosemite Valley Stable offers a guided ride to picturesque Mirror Lake during the two-hour ride, which is perfect for beginners and offers great photographic opportunities. The half-day ride takes riders out to the Vernal Fall Bridge, where they have access to excellent views of Vernal Fall, Clarks Point and Nevada Fall. In addition to stable rides, rafting on the Merced River can be one of the most relaxing ways to see Yosemite Valley's spectacular scenery. Rafts are available at the Curry Village Recreation Center. The per person fee covers one three-mile trip down the river, personal floatation devices for each person, two paddles and return trip by shuttle to the Curry Village Recreation Center. Cost for rafting is $28.50 per adult and $20.50 per child.
